Bloody winter. part 11.5
(Disclaimer: Masked man perspective. )

"I heard my cellphone vibration. It was my father, but the one speaking wasn't him. One of his men told me to go back home at this instant. I knew what was waiting for me, but I wasn't that confused child anymore. I had worked hard to learn and to take care of my business, and I was tired of taking care of others as well. I left a letter on the table for Tigreb and left.

I arrived home. The big grey steel door opened within seconds. An old servant showed me the way. My father was standing near the window of the balcony.
"Father, I'm here," I said, but he didn't turn around.
"You dare to call me father after what you have done! That is very brave of you!"
I stayed silent.
He turned around. "Why aren't you saying anything? Aren't you sorry!"
"I know very well what I did, but I didn't come here to say sorry nor to apologize. I don't regret a thing."
As those words touched his ears, his hand reached to hit me. I could stop that old man and even break his arm in seconds, but he is my father. He is the head of the house and he has the power. I was holding my anger.
"You shot Kale with a gun in his stomach. He went under operation. He could have died, and you say you aren't sorry?! That you don't regret it?! Our families have worked together for years, and you are fighting with their son like that. What happened with you two? You used to be so close together as kids. You trained together and ate at the same table. Are you being like this because of that scar on your face? You know it has been 5 years now. Let go of it!"

"It was true; he was the one who made that on my face. He didn't think twice to do it when they told him he would die. It had been 5 years; I would have forgiven him, but my father didn't know the whole story. He only knew what he had told him when I was lying in the hospital. Never in his life had he asked me what had happened."

"Tell me you will stop this grudge of yours. This is not a game anymore; you aren't children!" he yelled.
Kale entered the room. "Hello uncle. Oo hello to you too. I know that this is your house, but I didn't think I'd find you here."
"I didn't expect to see you here either!" I replied.
"Hello Kale! Are you feeling a little better? Sorry for not letting you know about this. I wanted to talk with both of you today."
"Yes uncle, that is okay; please don't worry, but I don't believe there is anything left to discuss over me and him," he said to my father.
"I couldn't have said it better. There is nothing left anymore! ..." I said, but my father interrupted me.
"I understand your words very well; he did a big mistake and I can't just stay calm about this situation. I'm very ashamed of his actions."
"Boy apologize to Kale at this instant!" my father ordered.
"Father...!" I said
"Now!!!" he yelled.
Kale had a smirk on his face. The urge to punch him directly at that moment was strong, but I controlled myself.

"Uncle please calm down; this isn't good for your health. I'm sure he is just furious about something."...
"Look at Kale; he is still trying to understand you even now! Stop being a child and grow up!" my father said.
"I said I'm not here to apologize. I just returned him a favor. He is lucky that bullet wasn't on his head!" I said furiously.
"How dare you speak like that!"
"Brian!" my father called one of his men.
"Yes sir?" he answered.
"Beat him till he goes on his knees and apologizes. If he dares to resist, you can make a hole in his body just like he did to Kale. Some little wounds won't kill him."
"Yes sir as you say!" they answered.
I followed them outside to the garden.
They beat me up till I fell on the ground, but still I got up. "Is that all you can do; come on, you were trained for this, do it properly!" I ordered them.

"You might think I was a psychopath to say that, why would I want to get beaten. Why? Because no matter how hard they do it, I won't apologize. My father knows this very well. I was raised this way. I was raised to be a beast. I point my gun at whoever I am told, and for the one time I pointed it at who I wanted, I was beaten like a dog. Never has he seen me say sorry, and lower my head just because I was told to. For as long as I didn't feel like it, I never apologized, no matter the punches I had to endure. I know this would happen again. He would try to force me with a beating."

A strong kick directly to my stomach made me cough so hard. The corner of my lip was bleeding. Then I saw my left hand.
The band-aids were still there. My whole body was in pain, and in that moment, the only thing I was able to think about to calm myself was her.
Maybe it was just for a moment, but still, I can't deny saying that my soul didn't feel peace.
I felt human, I felt alive, and for the very first time, I could say I was happy. Just because of her. She was the only person that was able to give me this feeling.
