Part II - ANOTHER STATISTIC
"PART II - ANOTHER STATISTIC"

I wrote a poem back in February 2024
You might not had gotten to read it
But it was a poem about my friend Stephanie
And how she became a statistic
You have to read part one
To get all the details
You'll find everything in there
Of all that entaled
My heart was pretty broken
To know my friend passed away
Nobody else seemed to care
That a precious life was lost that day
There's a new drug called fentanyl
That has taken over the streets
Fentanyl is so deadly
It makes other hard core drugs seem obsolete
People will mix it with other drugs
Or smoke the pill called "Blues"
Just a smidget to much
Can get you a slot on the evening news
The news will make a mention
How fentanyl claimed another lost soul
They'd probably throw out some statistics
Then move on to the next story about gun control
But this particular story doesn't stop there
As I found out a couple weeks later
That my friend Stephanie DIDN'T die
Thanks to another spectator
He happened to have in his pocket
Some Narcan Nasal Spray
It brought her out of the overdose
And saved her life that day
She told me how everything came about
She didn't know fentanyl was mixed in it
It was like one second she was fine
And on the floor dead the next minute
If you're an addict, you're an addict
There's many help resources out there
Never be ashamed to seek the help you need
There's many people out here who actually do care
It's not an easy fight and
Drug addiction is a bitch to overcome
You have to take it day by day sometimes
But that battle can be won
It's not gonna be an easy thing
It's always a battle that's ongoing
It'll linger in the back of your mind
Every day, night, and morning
You have to be at a point in your life
Where you just have had enough
You simply don't want to do it anymore cause
It always made life so fucked up and rough
It's nothing short of a miracle
I heard it said any day an addict is clean
You really can overcome any addiction
Whether it be heroin, cocaine, or methamphetamines
It's always gonna be a battle that's ongoing
Just know you have God on your side
You have to believe you can overcome it
Just keep moving forward and leave that past behind
