Sailors
Sunlight sweeps through the undertow
as we hurl stones into the afterglow.
On grassy bluffs and glassy waves,
we’re sipping spirits under the starry blaze.
Stepping into burning sapphire
when the colors are dreaming.

A mosaic of words, the birds take flight
and call their serenade.
Youth lulls the night and plants the lilac
in her window shade.

Cyclamen absorbs the rays, a hint of spring
in the halls of weekend worshiping.
In those summer scenes, the white clouds glide,
the maples green
through the hidden glade and countryside.

Sailors beguile their minds,
where the river pours into the lake.
Specters take hold the helm
as we reach for a falling flake of summer sun.

In lighthouse gleams and rampart blasts,
this song is sewn.
