today i saw a man
holding his daughter by the hand
i would estimate her
to be 5 or 6
maybe he just picked her up
from kindergarten
probably bought something
carried a bag on his other hand
both eyes hers and his
focused on the stone slabs
of the weed-covered sidewalk
on this october day
lost in thoughts walking slowly
next to each other in silence
continuously over the city
traffic's hum rush and honk
ain't long until winter
dusk now has fallen
today i saw this man
with his little daughter
