Remembrance
I remember a time when I was free
Skateboarding, hacky sacks, and climbing trees
But all too often my life’s been fast
Catching up, growing older, cracks within my mast

Tick tick tick beats the second hand
I’m watching it awestruck
Staring as these seconds pass
Tapping down a like limbs puppeteered by the wind

Have I left my mark upon this world?
With the little time I’ve left?
Will the ones who follow after me
Remember where I stood?

Will my feet be marred upon this earth?
Will my hand carve the bricks as I touch it?
Will my name be shouted in streets?
Or will I face that bitter bridge and be nothing more
Than just the water underneath?
