Kwannon (The Hangover)
Church bells
wake the bums
on Skid Row,
And I among them,
Having passed out
from too much wine.
This park bench
a makeshift bed,
Hard on the back,
Yet sufficient enough
for sleep.
A silhouette
appears before me,
A guardian angel
from the church itself.
She smiles compassionately,
Offering food and water.
Oh mercy!
Though a pang of guilt,
For taking what shouldn't
be mine.
