Stubble burning or composting
Since ancient times, we had known,
value of compost from waste products,
be it manure, animal product or stubble...
Used in gardens, farms or orchards,
as a mulch, a layer over the soil,
to keep them fertile year long.

With the arrival of chemical fertilizer,
we lost the need for natural methods,
for the enrichment of the fertility...
And we plow, plant the seeds,
not let the land take some rest,
for utilizing the farm, at full capacity.

And in this process, it becomes a hurdle,
generation of byproducts, like the stubble,
that had to be dealt in-between...
So, they choose to burn them all,
making the path clear for another batch,
with newer fertilizers, ready to use.

But, they were ignorant, or desperate,
for, it leads to losing precious nutrients,
that could be used as mulching of soil...
Instead, burning brought the pollution,
harming people and the environment,
leaving behind a blackened scar on earth.

So, let us find ways to be sustainable,
make nature renew, through compost,
when we use leaves or shredded stubble...
And it would reduce our dependency,
as we nourish and nurture the soil,
of gardens, orchards or farming lands...

Without adversely affecting environment.
