To My Sister's Mother
I watched her grow up without you .
She talked of you in jail ,
She talked of hiding under a table
Small and frail .
She talked of you like you weren't gone at all.
You were her very demon .
You stole her soul, but I watched her fall.
I watched the life drain from her eyes,
I watched as she suffered,
As she cried....
She lost herself because of you .
Because of this she is still that child
Now unsure of what to do.
She's tormented by your very control,
Stuck in your hell,
So vulnerable ...
If she doesnt take the drug from your hands
She loses you forever
The thought of it she can't stand.
As a child she needed you
And you shut her out.
Now here I am picking up the peices you threw about .
You broke her into tiny fragments.
Every time I pick one up
I feel more and more resentment .
To her you did no harm .
As long she has you
It doesn't matter what you do because now she is safe and warm...
An addict to a drug,
One moment
The high much like a hug .
She can't give that up .
When she comes down I'm the one who shows her love ,
But she always runs back to you
Playing tug of war
With the life she wants and the life she needs.
What does she want more ?
She refuses to choose.
It's all because of drugs.
Its all because of you.
