SCALING MOUNT EVEREST. A DREAM COME TRUE.
#WritcoStoryChallenge
The tricoloured flag evoked a myriad of emotions in us. We watched with pride as it rose towards the summit. We had won. After a month long journey of trekking finally we reached Mount Everest and kept our Tricolour National Flag and we salute. The weather was minus and chill winds were blowing. Suddenly we felt there was a change in weather. As Mount Everest were 29,035 above the sea level.
We had planned the trip much earlier and joined the Trekking institution which conducts trekking to Mount Everest . So as decided we caught flight to Kathmandu and reached the place from where our trekking was to start. We were instructed to wear what clothing to beat the sever weather and what shoes should be worn. Gloves in the hands and enough food. water, Medical supplies, adequate bedding, make shift tent ⛺ and Oxygen cylinder. We also had the local Sherpa to carry all the necessary items. We were made to carry Oxygen cylinder as it was the only source through which we had to breathe as we climbed higher altitude.
First we were taken to Nepal's Khumbu Ice fall which is 17,300 metres above sea level. It took number of days to acclimatize. It was South west base where we got to know the Sherpa ulture. Staying there for a day we went towards the Lobster face South summit. There are camp 2 which is 21,500 camp 3 is 23,500. Last South camp is 26,300.
There are groups who start with camp 1 above Khumbu Ice fall 19,500 . The weather in these mountainous peaks are rough and sometimes they have hail storms and night is very bitter cold. You
can't sleep bear body. The Sherpas assist us in cooking and also are our guide and they carry most of our luggage as trekking with these things on a high altitude is risky and some8its slippery. We are made to wear spike shoes and made to wear heavy clothes to prevent winter bites. Right from bathing to toilet is in these cold frosty weather. Sometimes there is danger of Snow leopard and Snow bears hunting for flesh. We have sleepless nights staring at the stars Days and nights are same in this weather and sometimes we are faced new challenges and we see dead bodies left to decompose in snow.
Now next morning we as per weather prediction were supposed to climb Hillary summit. Suddenly there were heavy hail storm and we have to return back to our base. We hastily put the make shift tent and rested there for another two days as weather had gone worst and after two days it was Sunny.
Suddenly one of my friend felt uncomfortable. We lucky had medicine and two people catching hd of him slowly climbed the Hillary Summit. This Summit is kept in name of Hillary the first Everest climber. We rea8the Summit and put the make shift tent and rested there. My friend also slept as he was exhausted and not able to walk and breathe. We cooked food and served him. After eating he felt better. Took medicines and slept. As night came it became pitch dark. The stars were shinning brightly . There was not even a single sign of any Human being and heard only Yetis live at such a high altitude. I walked little far and saw nothing as I heard strange noise and came running to my tent.
Next day we started towards New Tinvri base camp. We were in Tibetan region. We proceeded to Changste region 23,000 and we halted there for 4 days. Finally we were proceeding to the Everest which was surrounded by glaciers. The whole trip had taken a month long and even though we had face rough weather and many hazards we all were thrilled when we reach6the Great Mount Everest. We hoisted out Tricolour National Flag with pride and saluting the flag we danced and hugged each other with joys as tears rolled down in our cheeks with happiness and took mobile and took selfie 🤳 holding the Flag.
