Believe in Canadian Barred Owl
I sit upon American trees, we are safe from dangers.
I stay near familiar families.
Only they get me.
I flock to the nest, with the same old sights again.
–Sometimes I wish I could leave.

But love, it's so far!
That's right, why would I want to leave?

We fly together, a life of security.
We help each other, hand in hand.
I come from gunshots, fear and betrayal.
The best country in the world, I am truly free.
We stand behind the ones before us, I’m last in line.
Everyone is staring forward, but I can't help but look behind.
–Sometimes I wish I could leave for understanding.

But love, there's no shelter for you there!
That's right, but couldn't I make one?

We sit back and protect the nest, it is their everything.
This is their land, their happiness, there is no other.
I have them to rely on, but aren't there others?
–Sometimes I wish I could leave for Canada.

But love, it's not safe there without us!
Then I will defend myself.

We are safe here in the sky, but I go off to wonder.
Here I know everyone, but I still go and talk to others.
See I'm listening, but the passion still grows.
Sometimes I wish I could leave for Canadian weather.

But love, I've been stuck here too long.
This is my American ending.

They create problems, only for us to solve them.
This is my true wish, my happiness, there is no other.
So I promise mother, I will be the legend of the first Barred Owl to fly to Canada
–believe it or not.
