The Lion Who Lost His Roar
There was once a grand, golden lion,
Who let loose a great, gravelly roar,
So fierce that it flew out of his mouth,
And landed Very, Very Far.

After that, the poor lion's voice,
Turned into a small, sorry whisper,
So wispy the wind had to lean close,
And even the ants failed to shiver.

Over the course of the morning,
He hiccupped at a grumpy old giraffe,
But received for his trouble a reply,
A stern rebuff, "What's all this guff??"

He ran away most embarrassed,
And tried next a zany young zebra,
But expelled instead a long, loud burp,
And got in return, a rude, "HAHAA!!"

He hurriedly retreated again,
Tail drooping low and mane quite flattened,
Wishing to regain nobility,
Then he lay down, fairly chastened.

Well, sometime during his tired sleep,
His bright, braggadocious roar returned,
Going 'FWOOSH!' right back into his ear,
And he woke up, strangely determined.

With a single, almighty leap,
He was up on a giant, jutting rock,
Once more opening his powerful jaws,
Screaming, "...MEW!!" to everyone's shock!
