A Monkey Tale
Once upon a time in a jungle so green,
lived a monkey so vain you'd often see him prance and preen.
He had to cross a river, wide and deep,
but all the boats had gone, and he couldn't swim a peep.
Just then a crocodile swam by and grinned,
he told the monkey
look fellow, I have bananas so
hop on in...
The monkey, unaware of the croc's intentions so cruel,
agreed and hopped on, feeling like a lucky fool!
Halfway across the river, the croc said with glee,
"Monkey, my friend, I'm starving, can I have a bite of thee?"
The monkey was shocked and with a horrified shout,
said "No way! I'll find another way out!"
And so, the monkey jumped, splashing in the water so blue,
swam to the other side, safe and sound, who knew?
The croc was left hungry and confused, what a bummer,
while the monkey made faces, swinging through the jungle,
like a crazed drummer.
The moral of the story, always be aware,
of those who offer help, with motives unfair.
And when in doubt, just swim, with all your might,
you never know, you just might win the fight!
