i saw a cocowali
on my grandpa's
bushy tree
like an ugly,
busy bee
hung on his
lonely little lee.
holy guacamole!
this cocowali
is trapped
in the ocean
blue trolley
but oh,
so suddenly
leaped
off a cliff,
wholly broccoli!
what did you do baby?
what a witty cocowali!
you surprised me
with a dolly
you befriend my daddy—
my grandpa's silly willy.

postscript:
okay, i see what you're thinking—those aren't terms that are listed in a dictionary. i wrote it down because, much as when i was a child, i sincerely believe that people would still be able to understand me when i can't mention words by name. inspired by my father's first few words as a young man, as modeled by my grandmother, this poem was written.
