welcome to the world,
it's full of hatred and lies

this may not seem to be the case,
but can you open your eyes?

within twenty four hours,
the sun will rise and fall

within those twenty four hours,
a young child will begin to crawl

one day, that poor child will see
just how cruel the world is

not every single day
will be filled with pure bliss

that child will live a life
surrounded by sexism and racist behavior

on day, the only birthday gift wished for
will be for a savior

and if that child grows
and learns that they are queer

god, the hatred that they will endure
is going to be severe

if this young kid is anything
besides what has been deemed "normal"

then this child will grow
to be hurt and remorseful

every day,
the sun will rise and set the same

but what if, one day,
that kid will die in shame?

they say not to look much towards the future,
to keep your head in the present

but, currently,
the world isn't all that pleasant

every day,
the sun rises and sets the same

a woman will be raped today,
and she will take the blame

a man will use her,
and take away her power

one day,
the only thing she'll know is to cower

every day,
the sun rises and sets the same

a man somewhere will cry,
and he will be shamed

if a man shows
even the slightest hint of emotion

he will be told to "man up",
even though he is torn and broken

that's just society,
the world is so cruel

so awful, that a child
may be too afraid to set foot in a school

every day,
the sun rises and sets the same

but today, somewhere,
a young kid died in vain

a student this week
may bring a gun to school

their heart was shattered and hurt,
now all they can be is cruel

death is a heavy subject,
let's look at something lighter

right now,
someone is starting a forest fire

this world is dirty,
filled with trash and litter

and, as global warming continues,
kids soon won't know the meaning of winter

if this world could open its eyes,
maybe then we all could see

that, one day,
we may never again look at another tree

some of us notice,
maybe some of us will change

yet most of us won't,
we will all just see it as strange

until, one day,
the sun will set and never return

maybe then will we all learn

the world is ugly,
but if you think of it a bit more clearly

the world is actually so beautiful,
society is just horrid and greedy.
