“Hitting Pause”
I've learned to hit pause.
Sometimes playing a game gets so addictive,
it's the only thing you know.
You want to stay engrossed in it forever,
even when you should quit,
because the rage tenses your fingers
and tightens your grip,
but you have a goal.
An achievement to hunt.
You drive yourself mad,
unfathomably insane,
trying to remain.
Not every game is online,
with others included.
And in the moments when gamer rage
takes hold,
I learned that hitting pause,
is far better than making your controller
a fixture in your wall.
