The Last Act
I tried to silence my pain,
but my heart keeps weeping.
My brain went down the drain
after hours of fighting.

What could be more insulting
than seeing you look at me
as if I'm revolting,
like you were never in love with me?

What else could break
my already pulverized heart
when you said our love was just a mistake,
and we should've parted from the start?

With a heavy heart,
my body starts to resign.
I wave my flag;
I no longer want to plea for your time.

With a troubled mind,
I almost couldn't believe
I've decided to leave it all behind,
for there's nothing left to grieve.

And in my silence,
my last act of kindness,
you decide to take it back
as if I was trying to leave out of selfishness.

You hugged me,
relieving my heart's pain.
Kissed me on the forehead,
calming my clouded head.

"My love, we'll try to love again."
