Yesterday is only one day gone
And I would already like it back
If I were to retrace today's dawn
I'd grab chilli red not blueish black
I'd place a fair few orange pylons
Cautioning everyone to backtrack
I'd list today for sale— "no try-ons"
List it— "lightly used with not a crack!"

State all sales are final— no takebacks
I'd sell today to a store of pawn
For a buck plus shipping and sales tax
Ship today away to some poor john
Who knows not what he will soon unpack
It may be the low blow of a con
Selling today like some cheap knickknack
But with today finally long gone
With today being the day I lack
I can make my way to once upon
I can start my life-long journey back
To all the dawns I've already drawn
In yesterdays I won't get sidetracked
I know how to track through days bygone
I can trek yesterday's path exact
