"It's a girl! "
The doctor gushed, placing the wailing infant on the woman's chest.
She heaved trying to catch her breath in the aftermath of her gruelling labour. Tears of pain mingled briefly with tears of joy before dissolving into tears of sadness.
She had once again given birth to a girl! Her third daughter. What would her husband and in-laws do to her now?...
Holding her newly-born jealousy, she couldn't help but wander into the life of the little bebe, hoping she had been born to a home that would welcome her as she deserved.

The stares and murmurs of her inlaws did nothing to ebb the joy tattooed to her heart as her eyes darted from the blueness in the eyes of her three-month-old, to the two little girls running around the field with sunflowers tucked behind their ears.
The meeting ended with "She has to leave, we can't have her littering the place with girls".
The comment did not discourage her, not even after they made arrangements for her to leave.
