The Passemant astronomical clock in the Palace of Versailles has been keeping the time, date and moon phases exactly since the 18th century.
The clock was designed by Claude-Siméon Passemant in the 18th century and took around 30 years to create.
Located in Versailles since 15 January 1754, it is composed of a pendulum clock above which is placed an armillary sphere, depicting the heliocentric system and capable of showing the exact position of the planets.
The mechanism, built by watchmaker Louis Dauthiau, was made to correctly mark the time, date, moon phases and alignment of the planets until the end of the year 9999.

L'orologio astronomico Passemant nella reggia di Versailles segna esattamente l'ora, la data e le fasi lunari dal XVIII secolo.
L'orologio fu progettato da Claude-Siméon Passemant nel XVIII secolo e la sua creazione richiese circa 30 anni. Situato a Versailles dal 15 gennaio 1754, è composto da un orologio a pendolo al di sopra del quale è posta una sfera armillare, raffigurante il sistema eliocentrico ed in grado di mostrare la posizione esatta dei pianeti.
Il meccanismo, costruito dall'orologiaio Louis Dauthiau, fu realizzato per segnare correttamente l'ora, la data, le fasi lunari e l'allineamento dei pianeti fino alla fine dell'anno 9999.
