Lost Childhood 24
The time went by quickly it seemed and before they knew it they were two of a handful of people left in the restaurant. Sara asked the waiter for a carry out tray and the waiter asked if she was saving room for dessert and smiled. Alex looked at her with raised eyebrows and told her to take some home for later. Alex asked the waiter to bring a dessert menu. Of course Alex had nothing left on any of his plates. Sara ordered a slice of tres leches cake and Alex the flan de coco to go.

It was getting late and he wanted to get Sara home at a respectable hour. Alex paid the waiter and left a generous tip on the table. As they left the restaurant
he grabbed her arm, she allowing him to, while walking to the car. It had been a really enjoyable evening; on the ride home they were both quiet as music from the radio played softly in the background. Sara staring out the window, she had never been in this part of the city before; she thought, she had not felt this content in a long time.

When they arrived at her house, she knew to wait for Alex to help her out of the car. He opened her door and extended his hand to assist her; she placed her hand in his grabbing her elbow with his other hand.
He gently pulled her to her feet until she was fully standing on her own. He then walked her to her front door touch her hand kissed it and said, “It’s been a pleasure and thank you.” He turned and walked away; then stopped and turned around and waited until she was safely in the house.

He whistled on his way back to the car, which is something he did often when he was happy. Before going home he decided to drive down the Mitchell’s street. He was caught off guard to see the house his team had been conducting surveillance on was fully lit up. He grabbed his phone and contacted the team on call to get there has soon as possible. He parked and waited for the team to arrive. He thought to himself that it was a good thing that tomorrow was Sunday and he didn’t have to work. He reached for his dessert and began eating it, so much for a quiet evening he thought.

When the team arrived he briefed them on all he knew and what he had observed so far; before he left he also told them that he was going to try to observe from the alley again. He was in his private vehicle this time; he was hoping that because it wasn’t the typical police department issued make or model he would make out something useful without spooking anyone, who may have been around.
