An analogy of light and darkness, belonging to both, yet never fully belonging to either.
#WritcoRapidPrompt1
Write a short story from your past that involves light or darkness in some way.

It was a warm safe place, but it was also very soothing and dark. She came from this place of darkness unknown to her and entered a new home full of light and hope and goodness. This was a golden time when a mother's love strengthened her darkness.

She was surrounded by light and warmth which made her grow taller. She was loved and raised in this light. She would grow up to always search for this light and always love and need this new light. A light she could call as her own.

But in the high light of the noonday sun she saw how her image cast a dark shadow. In those moments she remembered the darkness which she came from where she was nurtured and safe inside a place that was not known and she felt a yearning as if that unknown dark place was calling out to her, it's shadow was mysterious and persistent.

In the stark bright light she saw her darkness was unbearable and painful. She felt the darkness pulling her to seek that soothing safe place. She found the way to return to the dark place from which she came. But when she returned to her dark origins that abandoned her she saw that it changed and so did she. She no longer belonged to the darkness and the darkness no longer belonged to her. In darkness she did yearn for the light and she returned to the light.

When she returned to the light that raised her as a giant sun beam, she found that her search for the darkness cast a shadow over the light she was seeking.

In darkness she was born and abandoned. She remained in the darkness until the light of a mother's love renewed and revived her as its own light. She longed for a darkness that uniquely held her as its own for such a brief time and imprinting the outer shell. Drawing her back to a beginning she never did fully belong to, but could not deny it's truth. And yet light floods the darkness, and darkness is not perceptible without light. So shall she be forever downcast upon the light of day a daughter born in darkness and driven out of darkness by a mother's love. One of abandonment the other of adoption, belonging to neither, yet existing as both darkness and lightness that require each to be recognized.
