There’s a strange sense of calm
That takes over when you’re
On top of a building.
As you look down below and
See everyday people and cars,
Now like ants below you.

Reality becomes non-existent.
You feel like some form of deity
Looking down on an everyday
Occurrence
And feel so strong.

Control.

On top of a building,
The only thing between
You and certain death is
YOU.
You have complete control.
Whether you lean just too far over,
Or stay safe.

Sitting and looking down at life
Gives me a powerful sense of control,
No matter how bad things get.
Perhaps it's the comfort in knowing
That if it were to get too bad,
I could jump.

Or if I just need to breathe,
I have all the time in the world.
