Poem: You Are A Man
Listen!
you are a man
to praise you
I will not rely on any material thing
I will not say
you are beautiful
I will not say
This moon-like dot on your forehead
those domed earrings in your ears
The shadow of your thick black hair...!

you are a man
Even the bangles don't jingle in your hands.
your feet don't even wear anklets
It doesn't fit your toes either.
some nettle
I for your praise
From a scarf in your hair
I won't be able to take any support even from my feet.
I can't even write any poem, song, ghazal.
In praise of you.

you are a man
of all the languages of the world
found all the letters
There are no words to praise you

But you know?
Your appreciation is beyond words
no alphabet will be able to praise you
If you can understand then understand
listen if you can
spoken in praise of you
my unspoken words
Whenever I look at you with love
Because
you are a man
And
I am speechless
in praise of you
O my dear man!
