Chess battle
In a dimly-lit room,
The pieces are beautifully carved,
Ivory and ebony,
Standing proudly on the checkered battlefield.

White and black, kings and queens,
tactful and commanding,
Strategize from their thrones.

The knights, with their carved horses,
Gallop across the board,
A clatter of hooves,
Leaping in daring maneuvers.

Bishops, moving diagonally,
With swift precision,
Rooks, sturdy and steadfast,
Rolling forward like fortresses,
Protecting their comrades.

The pawns, often underestimated,
Advancing steadily across the battlefield,
Knowing they can become any piece,
Aspiring to reach the other side.

Somehow, one must win,
The other, defeated,
And thus it happens here.
