Love
Once upon a time, I thought I knew true love
As it was explained to me as a wee tyke
Back when I was riding banana seat bike

With the tale of a shoe that fit like a glove
The story of a knight on a steed bright white
With plots read, as was said, a distant goodnight

With lively video— the looker— the beast
With Pocahontas 'making way'— west to east
Those tales ride my mind— they are not last nor least

I stop on said note as I once held quite tight
The lovely words following those copyrights
The shooter's arrow sparking loves sweet ignite
The lovable vision shown with bright spotlights

But I now know that I learned nothing of love
In fact, everything I learned was devoid off
Anything I would now view to be doting
It's just misuse with a sweet sugar coating

It was not love just diverse forms of deprave
That called to me like a supersonic wave
That left me craving that same kind of malice
Until I went under just like young Alice

Until I fell very deeply down within
Found the substance of love beneath my own skin
Found the drops of love of which I had been starved

Now I'm out searching for that bold initial
To be aside my own— permanently carved
That love that's mutually beneficial
That love that is equally sacrificial

I want that love that is truly very tough
In a way that is far more lasting than rough
The kind of love meriting a picture show

I thought I'd found it, but— if you know you know
I will just keep on searching in good fashion
For that one who matches my sleepless passion

I figure I have another fifty years
'Til dying alone needs to play on my fears
I guess that means I can take my sweet, sweet time
In finding lasting love— finding love that's prime
