When I was younger
I never thought about much
Like how fast time goes by
What a dollar was worth
What it meant to be old
Or about people living lives in confusion and dearth
Never once considering
How long would I be on this earth
I didn’t think to much about the future
Couldn’t care about the past
Never too worried about being first
Just didn’t want to be last
Never thought about the consequences for the things I had done
Only thought about the late night and the rising sun
Now I spend my days
My mind so vast
Filled with what I did that was right or wrong
How time goes by so fast
But I ain’t going to forget
While I rock on my porch
To share some wisdom
It’s time to pass the torch
