Nurtured Prejudice
Swimming in the sea of their
parents, children are born to abhor
the things they are taught
Bigotry comes from constructive
education; instructed to replace smiles
with frowns, selfish crowns
So hate and bitterness are two
#lugly rivers twisting together
and mankind roll and dance in them.
Nobody is born to abominate
They are taught to discriminate
The hideous bugs of society
are racism and its brothers
From one generation to the other
they are passed on like genes
Dying nation, blurred future
Tribal and regional disputes
Bitter hearts, unfruitful debates.
Don't ask me how I will love
to be called, just call me brother
and we will defeat this civic cancer
The truth is anywhere I go
I will always be black but that should
not take anything from you or I
Nor cause you to isolate
Break the family sick pedagogy
Be you, live by a human ideology.
