I was home
It was midnight
My demons gathered to dance
The whiskey began to flow
The angels of death joined in
The world began to spin
The roads twisting and breaking
I'm pushed to the edge
By those I thought were there
To protect and guide me
Left to wonder these broken roads alone
Spent years walking alone with my demons
Hoping the angels of death would take me home with them
Many nights I was on my knees begging them too
Yet come morning they were gone
I was still alone on the road
Struggling to find a reason a meaning and an answer to why I was left alone
I continued down those twisted roads
Traveling alone
The darkness was suffocating at times
Like a hangman's noose around my neck
Alone I continued to walk
Still praying the angels of death would take me home with them
As I traveled these roads I met other lost souls
Those left in the gutters of society
Some for a time even made me want to stay in the filth with them
But in the end they were nothing more then distractions along the road
One day in the darkness of my life
A light shown brighter then the sun above us
It came to me in the form of a dancer across a window
Clad in a purple bodysuit and barely eighteen
She pulled me from the darkness
She sent the angels of death back into the hell from which they came
Showing me there was a way out
Showing me regardless of where I was
I was not who I had to be
Regardless of the road I traveled
I was not destined to be alone
I was here with her
I was home
