Dogwoods have blooms that resemble a cross,
Not believing that it coincidentally shows itself,
Annually during the Easter season,
When children wait for the bunny to fill their baskets.
Look closely, you will see what looks like punctures,
Said to be the symbol of nail prints,
Those hammered into the hands and feet of Jesus,
The fourth puncture being the crown of thorns.
For me it is a special reminder of Spring,
A time when things are revived, a resurgence,
Importantly remembrance of the Crucifixion,
The Celebration of also the Resurrection.
