Grand Canyon like

Falling off the edge of a cliff
The perfect idiom
Comprehending
The incomprehensible
Meaningless word salad
Welcome to the friend zone
Well past my sell-by date
No broken bones
But my heart
Like a whiskey glass
Dropped on a tiled kitchen floor
A trillion shards everywhere
To be trod on for all time
I bleed a little every day
Each time a reminder
Of the greater pain
Haunted by those words
I have yet to understand
Constantly on repeat
Like Christmas movies
Always there
Subconsciously
Shaping my soul
My heart on a potter’s wheel
The ghost of a broken man
Living through an
Earthbound
