Taking Flight
Ever see the movie, "High Plains Drifter"? Remember at the end when he rides off into the distance, and just........disappears? With my heart torn from my chest, as the scenario often suggests. A Man such as me fades off the end of the planet. How I got here I'll have to say, goddamit. A Woman's tongue, oh how wicked and perverse to ponder. Making the mob raise their pitchforks to plunder. As she whispers in her children's ears. What a waste of time for a Man to think. To have his children love him back is like watching the Titanic sink. To find his way through the Forrest of despair, only to become lost is quite unfair. How does a Man with a past of complete pain, find himself traveling again in the rain. For pain is all he knows and the rain hits like ice. Throttle twisted back he buries the needle. Every rain drop like a razor as he welcomes every slice. Sitting back for miles at a time with no hands to guide. Losing every drop of pride. As he lets the pain release. Hoping as he closes his eyes a cliff will magically appear to finally bring him to his demise. A resting place, no need for a grave. As his Soul takes flight like a Hawk in the wind. Maybe as a bird of prey for the rest of his days. No need to wander aimlessly through life's fucked up maze. A human he was, and no longer wants to be. Asking the Lord up above to finally set him free. Lost in the sky with no remembrance to cry. Forgetting his pain as he spreads his arms wide. Leaving pain, and the suffering, sadness and pride. Only the instinct to hunt and to fly. No more shall this soul ever cry....
