Pigeons
The pigeons have been domesticated
for five, even ten thousand years
At some point people decided
that they no longer needed their services,
nor were they all that interested
Pigeons can't make nests
they've forgotten how to keep themselves safe
at least they still understand love,
how to find each other and
to build poorly made home
Those who are not so lucky
to find love, come across again
with people
But to humans they're silly toys
with no feelings - plucking their
feathers and gassing them with their cars
That's how long lasts
the human memory
