An icy treat
It's icy, or creamy cold,
a sweet dessert, universally adored,
no one knows its true origin,
yet, an integral part of our world.
Prepared in ancient China,
as a frozen milk confection,
might have inspired the Italians,
to transform it into a magical creation.
Yet, Persians, too had contribution,
in making sweet Faloodeh invention,
the Indians, during Mughal period,
developed their own kulfi flavors.
Yet, mankind might have found,
these secrets, in ancient times,
likes of sorbets, filled with syrups,
poured into cups, of crushed ice.
And here, in modern times,
fortunate are us, to taste them all,
from humble chuski on the streets,
to many flavors of Gelato in shops.
From our childhood, we tried,
Popsicles, in stick or packets,
coming with lovely flavors,
of fruits, milk or chocolates.
Even now, when I go out,
try my hand in a cup or cones,
or bring home, a bigger pack,
to enjoy with family, an icy treat.
