Great Indian Women
Anandi Gopal Joshi: First Female Doctor

"Be grateful for challenges because...had there been no difficulties and no thorns in the way, then [each woman and] man would have been in his primitive state and no progress made in civilisation and mental culture."

— Anandi Gopal Joshi

Anandi was a keen student from childhood,
as she turn at the age of marriage her parents get her married to Gopal Rao. Gopal Rao was great appreciator of knowledge, it was a child marriage. Gopal bet for getting married to Anandi was that she will study after marriage. But as after marriage Anandi get involved in house chores and family. Soon they have a baby boy, which was born in house at that eea of time people think delivering baby in hospital in front of male doctor is a sin, Gopal Rao suggested Anandi to deliver baby at hospital but she denied as a result soon after the birth of child he died due to deficiency and diseases.
After the death of her only child, She decided to be a Doctor for every women so that they don't lose their child. She studied hard, and get into a college and completed her degree.

First female doctor in India and the first Indian woman to obtain a medical degree in the United States.

Anandi died at the tender age of just 21 (just before her 22nd birthday). But before that, she became the first female physician in India in 1887. Her condition deteriorated while she was in the second year of her studies. Yet, she still completed her studies and returned to India. She was later diagnosed with tuberculosis, which ultimately caused her death. She opened the gates for many young Indian women who wanted to do more than devote their life to household chores.

My perspective of including her is, At very tender age of 21 she established a inspiration, a guide for female in that era where society was male dominated, She broke myth that 'Doctor' is not a male term it can be female too.

Today's thousands of girls are preparing for their NEET exam, She is example for those, She is example for every that girl women who is dreaming to be a doctor. She is reply to all conservative thoughts that was only set for females.
She gave willingness to many women in her era.
