Chapter 4 : had to turn the lie into reality
The door bell rings. I open the door only to welcome a flying paper in my face. The paper lashes my face and falls down. I stand frozen, only my eyelids move several times.
"What is this nonsense, Ruby", Zayn's voice cracks my frozen blood.
I look at my bloody letter on the floor. We smile at each other.
"Why are you smiling? ", Zayn asks taking out his frustration.
" I thought you'll be worried 😟. I thought you'll be scared to lose me", I say pushing the corners of my lips downwards and blinking frequently. You know that dramatic sad face.
" I know you very well to fall for this…."
"Don't you wanna come in?", I interrupt pushing the door wide open.
He stares at me like if it was possible he would have eaten me right then.
"Come on, in" ,I point a thumb towards inside.
He walks in and sits on my deep blue sofa. He burries his face in his hand.
I stand pressing my back against the door.
" Why? Why did you do this?", He grits his teeth.
"You want some water? ", I raise my eye brows. "No? How about my blood? " , I laugh in his angry face.
"Stop it", he raises from his seat.
"Why you thought I won't kill myself if you leave? "
" I just know. I know how your brain works. I don't know whose blood is that in the letter but it's definitely not yours"
" Awww, you know me so well"
"Stop it. Tell me why the hell did you do this? "
"You said you can't convince your parents to marry me. You said you won't marry me if they don't say yes. Then what were all these years for? What am I supposed to? I thought I'll just convince you and your mom"
"Like this? ", he points at the letter lying on the floor.
The bloody letter who is witnessing all the drama in the house sighs away.
"Ruby, you know what you did, right?"
"Yes I know. What did your mom say? "
"She got scared. She thought you'll be dead by now"
"How sweet. Why can't you think like your mom? I thought you'll come running and while running you'll hope to reach just in time to save me. And when you'll reach my house, madly ring the doorbell. When I'll open the door you'll cry with joy and hug me and… "
" ...and propose you for marriage. Start a war against my parents"
"isn't the word war too much?"
"Oh just shut up. Are you mad?", he shouts
I stay silent. Shiver runs down my spine.
" I thought you love me", tears well up in my eyes.
" I do but I can't marry you, okay", he tries to touch my arm but I step back.
" Okay but surely I can kill myself " , I look him in his eyes.
Tears rush to my cheeks. My breaths feel hot.
" Ruby I know you can't ", he steps back and sits down on the sofa.
I go to kitchen pick the black knife and slit my left wrist with it. My goodness, it hurts so much, how do people cut themselves, damn it! I scream in agony. I see blood gushing out and my vision blurring. Black.
