Carlitos is a 8 years old boy who leaves in an orphanage called Pavilion. The director of Pavilion Mr. William was very rude to Carlitos and his friends Godwin, Daniel and Veronica for no reason. They were only 21 in the orphanage so they were grouped together in a room and were thought the same thing. Carlitos wanted to be a footballer but Mr. William discouraged him while on the other side his friends encouraged him. He got confused Mr. William told Carlitos if he wants to be a footballer then he had to be the first of his class group because he knew it was totally impossible. Mr. William never wanted Carlitos to prosper so he does everything to stop him. Jakefred in the orphanage who was like a father and a friend to Carlitos. Jakefred also wanted to be a footballer but couldn't be also encourage him. One Monday day, during class hours, Godwin wanted to sneeze but was afraid to seek permission from Mr. William so he opened the window and to his surprise, he saw a poster to recruit children between 7and10 to become football players for Italy. Godwin quickly call upon Carlitos to come spy but Mr. William saw them and walked to the window. When Mr. William saw the poster, he began laughing and ask who wants to be a footballer the scared Carlitos slowly raise his hands up and Mr. William burst into laughter again and said you you you Carlitos ok only if you get 95% in the end of term examination. After lesson that day, Mr. William told the class that there would be an excursion to the aquarium on Wednesday. In the evening when everyone was sleeping, Godwin woke Carlitos Daniel and Veronica to tell them his plan. It was about how Carlitos will escape on the excursion day. Daniel will climb a tree while Mr. William is counting the children Carlitos will also be counted. When the children are counted, then Carlitos will escape with Godwin to the stadium. On Wednesday, they did as previewed but after counting, Mr. William noticed that there is a missing child then he heard the voice of Daniel from the garden so he went there and Carlitos also escaped with Godwin. On the field, there were many children but they were divided into 11 groups. Every child was given number. When you are new you will be in group 11 and you must train hard to get to group 1 before you will be chosen but if you don't work hard you will be eliminated. When Carlitos got to group 2, Ricky a 10 year old boy in group 1 saw Carlitos and thought he was stronger than him so he chosed him. When they were about to start , to Carlitos's surprise, Jakefred was the coach of the team. Jakefred was also surprised to see Carlitos but he didn't say anything. He silently stood up and walk to the children that the minister of sport has change his mind so group 1 will play against group 2 the winner will be chosen with some people from the other group. It was a five minute match. In the first 2 minutes, Ricky scored a goal Carlitos got angry and scored another goal also. In the fifth minute, Brand Ricky's friend wanted to score but was knockdown by Mike. It was a penalty and Roland scored it. Group 1 was chosen with Carlitos, Mike and Granger. Godwin was very happy but Jakefred saw him and asked him what they were doing on the field that is Mr. William aware they are not at the excursion he said no Jakefred told him to call his friend that he will drop them at the aquarium. When they got Mr. William asked them where they are from and Veronica said from toilet and Godwin said yeah from toilet. In the night, Godwin woke Carlitos Daniel and Veronica to tell them his new plan. Every afternoon after lesson, Carlitos will walk carefully to the library hall and sign for his presence then he will take a book place it on the table beside the back window then escape through the window. He will walk slowly on the roof till he gets to the cross there he will jump in front of the main door he will see a driver who will lead him out of the orphanage and when he gets back he will go to the library to do his homework the answer will be awaiting him. On Monday, when Carlitos jumped down he saw Jakefred waiting for him by a car they entered and drove to the field. Jakefred and Andrew were training them for their first match which will be Italy vs Holland. When they got to Pavilion in the evening, Jakefred helped Carlitos to climb the roof back to library hall copied the answer and went to sleep. The next day, they did the same thing but when he was doing the homework, Mr. William came to the library hall and saw him. He asked Carlitos what is he doing and Carlitos replied learning. He said wow that is good that the exams tomorrow will be from Aki Ola page 227 and left. On Wednesday morning, Carlitos told all his classmates the good news. Every body focused on it. When Mr. William arrived to class, he said all books away except Aki Ola form 1 page 20 form 2 page 31 form 3 paaa...........ge 228 everybody was surprised but luckily for them Daniel and Godwin had the answers so they quickly passed it out. Mr. William was laughing trough out the exams and the students were also smiling. At the end, Mr. William was surprised every body passed. Later that day, after training Andrew chose the children to play against Holland tomorrow Carlitos and Ricky were chosen. Ricky wasn't happy but admitted it. Italy reported a victory of 3-1. The next match was Italy vs Portugal . Italy won 2-1 but Ricky did something that annoyed Andrew and Jakefred they had an opportunity to score 3 goal but that was if Ricky gave Carlitos pass. Because Ricky hates Carlitos he ruined the opportunity.
They continued like that till they got qualified for the final. Mr. William had been suspecting Carlitos so on the semi final day, he followed them secretly till they got to the field. After the match, when Carlitos and Jakefred got to pavilion, they met Mr. William in front of the gate. He asked them to meet him in his office where the proprietor and all teachers and maid were. Mr. William said everything and took the decision to fire Jakefred. When Jakefred was going he excused Carlitos for ruining his opportunity t become a footballer. When Jakefred left, Carlitos loosed hope and decided to give up. On Monday, a man came to adopt Carlitos. They signed agreement and told him to come back Tuesday. Tuesday was the final against England. In the afternoon, Maylie Jakefred' s wife being a maid in pavilion called Jakefred and told him the news Jakefred said no and told Maylie to bring Carlitos to the airport early Tuesday morning. In the morning, she came and woke Carlitos to come let them go Carlitos asked her were and she answered him to his new home. She drove him to the airport and Carlitos asked what are they doing in the airport then suddenly he saw Jakefred Carlitos asked what is going on and Jakefred told him everything he was so excited and join them for the plane. When Ricky saw him, he got angry again. When the man who was adopting Carlitos came, they search for Carlitos but to no avail then the proprietor called police. When the police came, they called Maylie to question her but unfortunately, she let the cat out of the bag. Mr. William, the proprietor, Maylie and the police went to the Wembley stadium in England where the match between Italy and England was going on 1-0. They waited to halftime then went to the room where the Italian players were and arrested Carlitos. When the match resumed, Carlitos was replaced by Jimmy a 7 year old boy. In the 60th minutes, England score a goal making 1-1. In the 85th minutes, Italy had a goal but due to selfishness, Ricky missed the goal. Suddenly the proprietor appeared with Carlitos. He explained that Mr. William bribed a man to adopt Carlitos. Then Andrew substituted Ricky with Carlitos. When it was a minute more to end time, Carlitos stopped with the ball. He waited for 30 seconds then he began running with the ball and dribbling who ever comes his way both opponent and mate. When he got to the danger area,he was takled by the defender and the referee gave a penalty Carlitos was really happy. When the referee blew his whistle for play, Carlitos kicked a fantastic volleyball into the goal. The whole field was happy Italy took the cup home as a victory. The minister of sports declared Carlitos a footballer and he retired Ricky.
A week later, Jakefred and Maylie adopted Carlitos.
