HAPPY BIRTHDAY E. CORDETA (IN ARREARS)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CORDETA

First, I'm sorry I missed your birthday. And Happy Birthday in arrears bro (that's the way we say it in our place for a birthday message long overdue). Welcome to a new age; bigger, better.

Let me confess, sometimes I forget there's an app called Writco on my phone. It's crazy. I freeze some apps for two basic reasons: better focus and storage space. Freezing Writco is for a bit of both, mostly the former. It's difficult to focus on anything when you put up your work on Writco. I don't know about you but I constantly check my phone for notifications once I do that. I wait for notifs like i'm waiting for a Squid game sequel or like i waited for Adele's Easy on Me. It can be distressing. I've inadvertently mastered this bad habit of freezing the app for longer than necessary so these days I easily forget. But with you Cordeta and your beautiful letters to me, I'll sure get better at checking up on what's popping on Writco.

I have loads of work so many times I get overwhelmed and writing sadly becomes a secondary, an addendum. When I get some goodnews like I did today (I got shortlisted for some cool literary prizes for works I wrote during the pandemic...), it gives me a spur of the moment enthusiasm to face the blank page. I'm also pretty much perfectionist in a way that impedes my progress and creativity but i've discovered my writing works best when i let it so I figured i should hop on writco today and experiment. Some of my best stories started here — weird and horrible on first draft. The goal is to write rubbish till it's gold.

For the round-robin tales, i'd love to be a part of it. If it's a collection of short stories that would work for me but if it's anything novel-ish, my major issue would be consistency.

It's good to hear from you once again Cordeta, my fun far-away Canadian friend who always writes nice letters to me.

Yours sincerly,
Dr.INK.
