The Umbrella Man ☂️☂️
It was Saturday, a warm sunny day of June. I had plans to meet my friends Sujaya and Abhilasha in Dwarka sector 10.

I have never been to this place before, so I thought to leave before time from my home. I was about to leave, when my friend, Deep called. He was here in my locality, for some work, and he wanted to find out about some shop. I informed him about that. While talking to him, I told him that I was going to catch up with my friends in Dwarka. He was from the same area. So, he asked me not to leave as he knew that I was not familiar with the place. He said that if I was ok, then he could drop me at the place. I agreed as I knew him. He completed his work, came, picked me up and dropped me in few minutes.

I called up my friends. They were still on their way. Wohooo! This was the first time that I have reached some place on time. So, I thought to explore the place in the meanwhile. I have this habit of observing people, when I don't have anything to do. I looked at the faces of people around, some looked whiny, some so happy, some were weirdos, few sad....It was fun to see all kind of expressions at one place.

My friends called to inform that they have reached this restaurant, where we were supposed to meet. I was on my way, when I stumbled upon this guy, who was carrying an umbrella, on this sunny day. I looked at him, he had that physique of an athlete. But why was he carrying an umbrella on this sunny day. There was no chance of rain. No way!!!! Not in any case. I wondered and giggled, while passing by him.

I went and finally met my friends. It was after a long time that we were meeting, so we had so much to talk about. We were so immersed in our talks that we didn't notice that it was 6 in the evening. I looked out of the window. The sky looked dull and dark. Seemed like, it was going to rain. They had their kids with them, so they left and I decided to catch the metro.

I left the cafe. I was on my way, when it started to rain. I looked here and there to see if I can get a a shed to save myself from the rain. But there wasn't any. I froze where I was. I saw these two guys coming from far with an umbrella. The more near they came, the more was I able to identify, the other person. Voila! This was the same athletic person whom I have accidentally met in the day. The same umbrella in color blue. They passed by, without looking at me. I was expecting a help here😔. But they left.

It was getting dark, so I thought to move instead of standing there. I started walking. Suddenly, I heard someone calling from back. "Excuse Me" "Excuse Me". I turned back and it was the same guy, the athlete. I stopped. He still had the blue umbrella with him, in the other hand, he was holding a yellow umbrella.

He opened the umbrella and handed it over to me. I was surprised. I said "Sorry". He asked me to take the umbrella and go. I told him that I couldn't take that from him as I didn't know him. He said he was a human, and that was all I should know. I denied to take his help. I told him that I can't take that umbrella and even if I do, how was I going to return it, as we were total strangers. He understood the point. He didn't ask my name, neither did I ask his.

He pointed out to a cafe on the other side of the road. He told me that I could return the umbrella to that cafe owner, next time I come there. I was skeptical. I hesitated and I said OK. I asked him if he could tell me his name so that I can let the cafe owner know, about the owner of the umbrella. He said, he was human, that was what I should be knowing, nothing more than that was he ready to share with me.

He said that he will let the cafe owner know about the umbrella, so I can go anytime in the cafe and can return it to the cafe owner. The cafe owner will pass it on to him. I said OK. I was wondering why this guy had this intention of hiding his name. Come on! Dude! I wasn't going to copy your name. But nevermind! This was the guy who was helping me, and he was human, that was all I should be knowing. So, I Obliged. I took the yellow umbrella and proceeded towards the bus stop.

I went to the cafe, the next week. I went to the cafe and asked for the owner. The man in mid of his 30's came, he saw the umbrella in my hand and he said "yeah! The umbrella". He told me that the athlete guy had intimated him about the umbrella. I handed it over to him. And while leaving, I asked, If I could get the name of the person.

The cafe owner said "He is a helpful guy and he is human, that is all that you should actually be knowing", nothing more than that.

I looked at him, smiled and left the place.

I left a "THANK YOU" note for him in the umbrella.....
