"Home Alone"
I awoke to a giggle. The sound wasn't outside the normal goings on of my household. My son giggles all the time. He giggles at his stuffed dog, at his duck toys, at his blocks, at himself when he takes a tumble and pauses to let out a breathy,
"Whoa!"
This giggle wasn't out of place on a Saturday morning. Except, it wasn't a Saturday. It's 10 a.m. on a Tuesday. Everyone else is at work and I'm the first one awake. As I sit up, I see him lying in his bed asleep. And then I hear it.
The reticent sound of the copper latch as my bedroom door closes.
