A blessing from God, the babassu palm tree was born here in the northeast of Brazil, they are our true queens. What is done with the babassu palm: With the straw they make many works of art such as hats, party arrangements, mats, house covers, filters, and fences with stalks...
The women break the coconut with an ax and roast the seeds. Babassu coconut oil is better than soybean oil because it is pure and fragrant. The fresh ground seeds give a milk that is put in food. But here people cut down many palm trees to make new houses and roads... A palm tree starts producing bunches of coconuts from the age of ten.
And also when a palm tree dies, it's a fluffy manure for plants like ferns and orchids. With the shells discarded and without coconuts inside, it is used to light a fire and people here make charcoal with coconut shells (the shells without seeds or with the old rotten coconuts) and sell them. And this new palm tree also has a soft and sweet heart of palm, my mother used to make palm heart juice in a blender, it's wonderful.
