A Parcel To Remember
A short story written from an online prompt and pictures do not belong to me they are taken from an app called Zedge.

A Parcel to remember

There was a ring at the door, Hayley answered the door to find a package was sitting on the door step.
"Weird, we aren't expecting anything today" she said to no one but herself. She picked the parcel up reading the name on the box, "For me" she added realising her name was on the box. She took it to the lounge and placed it gently onto the table, she looked at the box for a moment longer, knowing no one in the house had ordered anything, she noted how heavy it had been too.
"Guess I should open it" she said to herself again. She looked at it wondering what it could be? Where it had come from? Who had even sent it to her. "Do I open it?" she questioned herself, not sure whether too or not. It took her a few more minutes pondering whether to open it or not.
She walked to the kitchen and made herself a cuppa tea, before looking in the draw to find some scissors, that alone had been a bigger task than expected as someone had put them back in the wrong place, "That's the trouble sharing a house" she said to herself again. "No one puts things back where they got them from" she complained to herself, finishing he cup of tea she looked towards the lounge again, "I'm gonna have to open it" she muttered not sure whether she wanted too or not. Heading back to the living room her eyes fell upon the box again, she walked over to it slowly and dropped to her knees infront of it.
"OK box you win" she said gently, using the scissors she opened the box, there was a sword sitting proud as you like in there, "What the -" she started, why would someone send her a sword, she wondered to herself, it wasn't your usual gift to give someone. She also thought to herself. Taken back by the surprise in the box she just sat there looking at it for a long time, wondering all sorts of things, with so many questions running around in her mind, some good and some bad.
She couldn't help noticing the detail of the swords handle was very detailed with what appeared to be diamonds and a big red ruby at the the top of the sword, "It is a beautiful sword though" she found herself saying. Taking the plunge she picked it up by the handle the sword glowed in her hand, the room seemed to fade out around her finding herself in a field, "what the-" she said she dropped the sword to the floor the field faded around her and she was back in the lounge.
"Whoa" she gasped confused, but amazed "Did that just happen?" she questioned, she picked the sword up again and the same thing happened in exactly the same way.
"This could be interesting she thought to herself brightly placing the sword back in the box and took it up to her room, hiding it from anyone's vision. Completely unsure what she should do with it. A note fell out of the box.
" Hayley please keep this protected at all times and what ever you do, do not pick it up." the note read there was no name at the end of the letter but as she turned it over, "but if you do be ready to embark on an adventure you will never forget."
