My personal growth story: Getting fit
I'm all sweaty after a 30 minute dumbbell workout including a warm up and a cool down. Afterwards I had eggy bread for breakfast. Hopefully the protein from the egg will help build my muscles. I recently learnt that your body uses protein/muscle to help fight off illness. I've never been particularly fussed about being strong but preventing illness is definitely a good reason to start pumping iron. I watch workout videos on YouTube which is more fun than just following the instructions that come with the dumbbells.

I have also started Tai Chi. If you read my previous article on my personal growth you'll know that I'm pre-diabetic. I've been told that exercise as well as diet really helps. Things are going well. When I started the Diabetes prevention programme I was 12 stone five. Now I'm 12 stone one so I must be doing something right.

I discovered Tai Chi videos on The Great Courses app now called Wondrium. Stupid name if you ask me but it's still a great app. There are loads of brilliant lectures about so many different subjects and now they've started putting documentaries on it as well. I highly recommend it. It's worth the money.

Any way I've completely fallen in love with Tai Chi. It is both a good exercise and a relaxing movement meditation. It is just what I need to relieve the stress I've been going through recently as well as getting fit and preventing diabetes.

I have also been swimming which is always fun. I'll be doing that regularly.

Also a boxing gym is opening up near where I live. I don't want to become a boxer. I don't fancy getting punched. However they do non-contact fitness training. I can train like Rocky Balboa without having to go the distance with Apollo Creed.

Joking aside looking after my health and fitness is really worthwhile. I've been feeling like crap for a long while now. So if getting fit is going to make me feel better then I'm all in.
