Tutankhamun also known as Tut was the last ruler of the 18th dynasty of the Egypt . He succeeded his father Akhenaten and began to rule at the age of 8 years and died at the age of 18 years .his reign was from 1334 BCE to 1325BCE . Some of historical evidences proves that Tutankhamun wasn't his actual name , his actual name was Tutankhaten . There are several tales about him . Actually his father Akhenaten has faith in the sun god ( named Aten ) , so when Tut was born he named him as Tutankhaten but as his father ( Akhenaten ) died, he changed his name and took the title Amun joined to Tut and further named Tutankhamun . some of the tales about him tells that religion which was dissolved by his father was re - established by Tutankhamun and started having faith in the god (Amun) so he took that title. We don't know the exact reality but probability to have happened . There are no any texts in which we could know about who was his mother . Actually some of the historians have discovered the tomb of Akhenaten , Meketaten and Nefertiti . As DNA tests were done it was found that Tutankhamun was mostly related to Meketaten and Akhenaten . Meketaten was daughter of Akhenaten and Nefertiti . this meant that Akhenaten seduced with his daughter Meketaten such that Tutankhamun was born . Some tales tells that Tutankhamun was born to Nefertiti and Akhenaten not to Meketaten but DNA tests tells that Tutankhamun was son of Meketaten not her brother. Howard Carter( Archaeologist) has discovered his mummy inside golden coffin. When he opened the golden coffin, he found the text in which there was written that the person who would open his coffin , he would die soon . Actually , he became popular among the world as cursed king further. Actually all the members died soon only leaving Howard Carter . It was said that Tutankhamun was such a cursed king whenever he visited somewhere, there some incident had took place . Many tales refer that this was actually the reason why he died at the age of 18 . Tutankhamun have married his sister Akhanasen . the tales about him tells that his two daughters died soon . one who died in 6months of the pregnancy of her mother and another one died within a month after her birth. Tutankhamun had no son to succeed him . Some say that Tutankhamun suffered from deadly disease or he was murdered . After his death Tutankhamun was kept in golden coffin and burried inside the tomb . There are several tales about him . After his death , Ay his granduncle or grandfather in law succeeded him with beginning of new dynasty . Ay was most trustworthy of Tutankhamun . Later Ay married to Tutankhamun 's wife - Akhanasen.
