puppy
"you didn't even want him! this isn't fair!" pete whined as their new puppy curled up to patrick.

"it's not my fault!" patrick chuckled, gently petting the dog's head. "he just likes me," he shrugged.

"einstein! c'mere, boy!" pete looked at the dog, patting his lap to get the dog's attention. he huffed as the animal just ignored him, resting its head in patrick's lap.

"you've just gotta spend some more time with him, hon." patrick chuckled, looking at his pouty boyfriend, who just crossed his arms and huffed.

"not fair," pete grumbled.

"awwe, you'll be alright, baby." patrick said, trying to pull pete over to him.

"no, traitor." pete said, pulling away from patrick's grasp.

"fine," patrick mumbled, picking up the dog as he stood. "einstein and I will be in the bedroom." he mumbled, walking away from his pouty brat of a boyfriend.

a few hours pass before pete went to the bedroom, dropping silently on the floor, and crawling to the bed. he sat up on his knees, hands and chin rested on the bed with sad eyes. he whined softly, trying to get patrick's attention. if patrick loved that puppy so goddamn much, pete may as well act like one, right? stupid reasoning, and he felt a bit ridiculous, but he wanted patrick's attention.

patrick glanced up at pete, rolling his eyes. "I thought I was a traitor?" he mumbled. "you don't want me."

pete huffed crawling on the bed and over to patrick, curling up next to him. he stated up at patrick with a small frown. "I want your attention..." he pouted.

"and you thought acting like a puppy would get you that?" patrick laughed, pulling pete close to him.

"worked, didn't it?"

patrick nodded, kissing pete's forehead. "yeah, I guess so," he said with another small laugh.

"it's just... you've been giving more attention to the dog, and he doesn't seem to like me a bunch... I just felt a bit left out, I guess." pete mumbled, hiding his face. he felt stupid- being jealous of his dog, but that was how he had been feeling.

patrick frowned a little. "I'm sorry, honey..." he mumbled, holding pete a bit tighter. "I promise, I will give you each the same amount of attention, okay?"

patrick had not realized how much more attention he had been giving einstein, though now he knew, he felt awful. he never wanted pete to feel bad for anything, and definitely did not want to be the reason for him being upset.

"okay," pete said quietly, looking up at pete with a small smile. "thank you," he mumbled, kissing patrick's cheek.

"of course, honey." patrick smiled, kissing pete's nose on return. "I don't want you to feel bad, especially over that."

pete nods a little, hiding his face once again.

a moment later, pete felt a small shift in the weight of the bed behind him. he smiled as he felt something warm and fuzzy curl up against him. "patty," he whispered. "patty, look... he came to me!" he said excitedly, still whispering.

patrick chuckled, glancing down at them. "yeah!" he said in the same, excited whisper.

"he likes me," pete beamed, laying his head down again on patrick's chest.

"he sure does, honey." patrick smiled, kissing pete's head before focusing on the movie again.

for the rest of the night, they all stayed like that, cuddled up to one another- eventually falling asleep.
