The dirty, seaside town of Amsterdam holds a secret.

Christiana Thunder has the perfect life working as a gardener in the city and chatting with her grateful boyfriend, Bob Zeus.

However, when she finds a peculiar hat in her cellar, she begins to realise that things are not quite as they seem in the Thunder family.

A Christening leaves Christiana with some startling questions about her past, and she sets off to noisy Amsterdam to find some answers.

At first the people of Amsterdam are witty and intelligent. She is intrigued by the curiously modest detective, Rhiannon Sparrow. However, after she introduces her to hard Vaseline, Christiana slowly finds herself drawn into a web of decadence, fraud and perhaps, even abduction.
