TOWARDS THE STARS
I was a baby crawling along the shadows,
When we first met-
You held me in your arms and filled me with light,
When the Sun was set.
I opened my eyes and saw you smiling,
We were going towards the stars.
The merriest moments of my life they were-
We were flying beyond the bars.
Growing up, you held my hand;
And led me in these paths.
Rose me up to the glamorous skies
Dragged me out from the dark yards.
Now we walk together,
Still towards those stars-
Which twinkle and call us towards them,
We aren't very far.
You say you've gotten weak through the years
And that your legs are in pain.
That you were with me for long,
Now I should alone cross the lanes.
Then listen, that'll never happen-
For you'll always be there with me.
