Heart of Darkness
In the depths of my soul, darkness resides
A place where shadows hide, and fears abide
A heart of darkness, where pain and sorrow dwell
A place where love and light, struggle to compel

A void so vast, a chasm so wide
A darkness that echoes, with a haunting sigh
A place where hope and joy, are hard to find
A heart of darkness, where the light is left behind

In this darkest night, I search for a spark
A glimmer of hope, a light in the dark
A guiding star, to lead me through
A heart of darkness, to a brighter hue

But still the shadows, they linger and stay
A constant reminder, of the darkness in play
A heart of darkness, that I strive to define
A place where love and light, will one day shine.

Note: This poem is inspired by the title of Joseph Conrad's novel "Heart of Darkness", but it's not a direct reference or adaptation. It's a personal interpretation of the phrase, exploring the idea of inner darkness and the struggle to find hope and light.
