When a soldier doesn't make it home
#poem #poetry #WritcoPoemPrompt74
Time has blown you away from me like strong winds,
I hope you don't forget what we have shared...
It seems like it was only yesterday when we were kids growing up in South Haven. Laughing and playing catch by the Grand Station. I remember waiting with your mom, for your dad to come home. I could hear the frustration in her voice, when he didn't. I could see, how the concentration in her eyes broke, as the train left the station. I remember how she stepped forward, towards you, and looked at you, in your eyes with hesitation. how you immediately thought you did something wrong, and looked towards me to save you. how little did we know then? that we would grow so far apart.
