To the North-West
O lovely winter wind, take my letter there
To the north-west of this earth,
Where snows fall like melting happiness
And the dried mapple-leaves
Sleep under the peaceful shades of the trees.

O lovely winter wind, take my letter there
And when you will fly above the falls,
Take some cold murmur from there,
Only for her!

And if she remains asleep
And if black sadness wounds her deep,
Wake her up, tell to sweep the tears
By the untolds buried inside the letter.
