Man vs Virus
On this humble restaurant rested our livelihood
Business did prosper, all then was good
From dawn till dusk, they knew no fatigue
Who could, when one must make ends meet
Who knew that one 'small' thing could change it all
A man who once stood tall soon met his fall
In one fell swoop this bane brought carnage
Man versus virus – a war was waged
The pandemic raged on in an uncertain wave
And the way to a whole new era was wildly paved
An era wherein a 'new norm' must be embraced:
Financial pain to be endured by the populace
Woes of rents and debts knocked on every door
Until Mom nor Dad could take no more
Only despair and distress were in store
When will this end?
None could be sure
No gold, only dust in possession, he started counting days
Back and forth, arms crossed, he paced in a daze
Subtle drops of tears streamed down his weary face
This struggle for survival proved too much to face
For good of all must this unwilling place shutter
Well, who were they to defy order
Gone, gone was their only bread and butter
Those 'glory' days
Were finally over
Amidst the unprecedented desperate time
Laid evil whisper cajoling him to approach crime
But his moral compass still pointed north
Lest guilt would haunt and law be enforced
Pray to God this man forgot not
For God has all while man has naught
No time to die so he struggled and prayed
Good things come to those who wait
And good things did come to the one who did wait
